Often thought of as simply a journalist, Russell Solomon surprised a lot of people when his first published thriller, “The Lost Pendulum of Montrose,” was so well received. One reviewer even stated with surprise that he couldn’t believe that this was Solomon’s first novel, since the book had the feel of someone who had been writing thrillers all his life.

In some ways, Russell Solomon always did have a hand in the thriller market in his life as a journalist and paleontologist. His interest in ancient relics, graveyards and the secrets they keep led him to finally sit down and write this incredible piece of fiction. If you are a lover of the occult and enjoy the lure of a good mystery, then you might find it hard to put this one down.

Although Russell Solomon has been working primarily as a mainstream journalist in the Southern California area for much of his life, his passion has always been paleontology. From finding a bone buried in his Los Angeles backyard as a child to doing research on some of the world’s premier digs, he likes to say that he “knows his bones” and can whip any find into a frenzy of fiction.

“The Lost Pendulum of Montrose” brings together all of Solomon’s journalistic skills as well as his many years in formal paleontology and cultural anthropology study. The plot revolves around a small town in New Hampshire and the incredible story that is discovered after a find in the local graveyard. Much like some of the real-life mysteries that Solomon writes about, you will be surprised at the horror and terror that people lived through, with their story told only long after they are gone. This is an incredible first novel by any standards, and thankfully Solomon is already working on his next one.
