With the current trend of outsourcing these days, almost anything can already be outsourced. In fact, there are already some business owners who are left with nothing else to do but to monitor all their virtual assistants. Although this kind of set-up has worked for some, precautions still need to be observed. As the famous wisdom goes everything or everyone has its limits. The same is true for the type and number of tasks that can be assigned in a virtual way. Here some of these tasks that are better kept onshore.
Human Resource Management – while it can truly be enticing to avail of the human resource services of some outsourcing companies to reduce significant cost for the salary you have to provide to the human resource personnel, a task as sensitive and private like your own employees’ records are better kept within the premises of the company or business.
Legal Consultation – there are also many personal assistance services that involves consultation tasks, like design, business, marketing, and legal consultation. Among these, the legal consultation is the only one that is important to be kept within the same location simply because most if not all laws are locally bound, and it is close to impossible for a certain lawyer from another country or region to have the most appropriate views towards the situations in your own locality.
Accounting – This is probably one of the most crucial job whether for the company in general. This can even determine the success rate of the company, specifically in terms of financial performance. Although there are already many accounting software that can be used to assure accuracy, it is still better to keep such task onshore and in-house to minimize all the associated risks with it, especially information leakage. The financial records of the company is apparently very confidential and could not be simply distributed virtually, as much as possible.
The main basis for categorizing these tasks as ‘unsafe’ to outsource is their innate confidentiality and complexity which is really not advisable to be dealt with by a third-party company. It is always better to stick with the outsourcing principle: outsourcing is for businesses’ minor tasks, core functions are better left onshore.
